Well, we’ve had the first Festivals of the season and what an eye opener…..!

The As went to Cobham and were up against Macclesfield for the first time (they were so big that the majority thought they were Seniors!).   Next the boys faced Brighton, who underestimated our team and had to make major changes at half time, which, surprise, surprise, meant bringing on the largest group of 11 year olds I’ve ever seen.   Our defence was strong so both teams had difficulty in breaking through but the team showed huge determination and played gritty, defensive rugby.   The highlight for me was the praise from both opposing teams on the way we held our ground and put up strong opposition.

At the B festival we had a newly put together team who were a balance of experienced and the not so experienced players.   The diverse mix of skills meant that there were some initial losses, but the team improved every game and triumphed on their final outing beating Fleet and Aldershot.   The boys will now go to the Wimbledon Festival on a high.

The spirit throughout the whole squad is one of resilience and the standard we need to reach has been set with every player fully up for the challenge.
